Fire at Ruzyně Airport in Prague stops traffic

A fire in the guidance lights halted operations at Prague’s Ruzyně Airport on Thursday. The fire hit the guidance light line on the main runway near the D7 motorway.

Traffic at the airport has stopped. Machines that were due to land are being diverted to Vienna and German airports. According to initial estimates, traffic should be stopped for about two hours.

According to initial information, the supply cable to the guideline of lights on the bridge over the D7 motorway was on fire.

Firefighters declared a level two fire alarm and intervened using high-rise equipment.

The D7 motorway in the direction of Prague was completely closed, while only one lane was passable in the order of Slany.
