An extensive weekend fire in Mladá Boleslav affected one of Škoda Auto’s suppliers, the carmaker’s spokeswoman Martina Špittová confirmed on Monday. Škoda is currently investigating the extent of the impact on car production volume.
“The Škoda Auto Fire and Rescue Service also intervened in the fire, during which fortunately no one was injured. We are currently investigating the extent of the impact of this event on the production volume of vehicles. The whole matter is under investigation by the police of the Czech Republic. We ask for your understanding, but we will not comment further on this matter, ” Špittová said.
As of 20:30 on Saturday, more than 100 firefighters and around 40 fire trucks were tackling the fire, and the highest level of the fire alarm was in force for several hours. According to preliminary police estimates, the damage exceeded one billion, and investigators are determining the cause of the fire. No one was injured.
