On Sunday, a police patrol measured a road pirate on the D11 motorway at 227 km/h. The police stopped him, and he now faces a fine of up to CZK 10,000.

The patrol measured the 34-year-old BMW driver on the 106th kilometer of the motorway in the direction of Hradec Králové.

“The driver was speeding at 227 km/h. The man exceeded the maximum speed limit on the motorway by almost 100 km/h. The driver was breathalyzed for alcohol with negative results,” police spokeswoman Šárka Pižlová said.

The man agreed to the offense he had committed, and the officers reported his misdemeanor to the administrative authorities. The court can impose a fine of CZK 5,000 to CZK 10,000 and a driving ban of six months to one year.
