A car accident with a trailer carrying two horses closed the D46 motorway between Olomouc and Olšany u Prostějova for about three hours this morning. The accident in which the horses escaped was resolved without casualties.
The motorway was closed at kilometer 34 near Bystročice in the Olomouc Region in the direction of Vyškov at around 06:15. Firefighters called a vet to examine the horses and assess their condition.
“A passenger car with a trailer for transporting horses crashed here. Two were inside and escaped after the accident. Firefighters caught them and safely moved them behind the barriers,” firefighters’ spokeswoman Lucie Balážová said.
Firefighters captured both animals, Balážová claimed. Traffic on the motorway was fully restored before 09:00, according to information from the National Traffic Information Centre (NDIC).
