According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), Europe is now one step away from war because of the situation in Ukraine. The Russian military mission is an act of aggression against a sovereign state and a clear violation of international law. He said this in the House of Commons on Tuesday. Opposition parties, ANO and SPD, also condemned the Russian Federation’s actions.

“We cannot ignore the developments in Ukraine. Europe is one step away from war at the moment. Yesterday’s launch of a military mission by Russia was a clear act of aggression against a sovereign state and was a clear violation of international law”, Fiala said in the lower house.

At the same time, he said, Europe must act together. “We must not let Russia show weakness. We are ready for a possible influx of refugees from Ukraine. “

ANO and SPD also opposed

Opposition parties in the lower house also condemned Russia’s move. “I want to unequivocally condemn the aggression of the Russian Federation on the territory of the sovereign state of Ukraine. It is a clear violation of international treaties. It is essential that we approach the solution together with our partners, “said Alena Schillerová, head of the ANO parliamentary club.

The SPD also expressed criticism of Russia. “Any violation of the sovereignty and integrity of state borders is a violation of international law. This principle applies, and state borders should not be violated,” said Jiří Kobza (SPD), a member of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee.
