A fire broke out in an apartment building in the Vinohrady district of Prague, with firefighters rushing to the scene. Thick smoke was seen billowing out of a window while rescuers took care of four people.
The firefighters were dispatched to Slezská Street shortly before 2 pm, as smoke was observed emanating from a window on the top floor. Although flames were not visible, the fire was found to have originated from an apartment on the highest floor.
“The fire is under control, and we are conducting surveys of other flats while ventilating the area,” said Martin Kavka, a spokesman for the firefighters, adding that two people had been evacuated. In contrast, two others had been handed over to rescuers.
Before the firefighters’ arrival, police had already escorted several individuals from the building, with the street subsequently closed off to allow emergency services to get through.
