From Saturday, trams will not run through Lesser Town

From Saturday until the end of March, trams will not run in Prague between Újezd and Malostranská Street, where the transport company will change the tracks. The passage through Mala Strana will also be restricted.

The tracks will be replaced after 21 years, and the transport company expects the reconstruction to result, among other things, in significantly quieter operation.

The entire reconstruction will be divided into four stages. From January 28, construction will be divided into four stages. From January 28 to February 16, the tracks will be replaced from Klárov to Malostranské náměstí, then from February 16 to March 4 in the section Malostranské náměstí – Hellichova. From March 4 to March 31, the tracks from Hellichova Street to Vítězná Street will be gradually replaced.

Tram lines 12, 15, 20, 22, 23, 42, 97, and bus line 194 will run along the detour routes.

Line 32 will be introduced along the route Bílá Hora – Vypich – Malovanka – Pohořelec – Pražský hrad – Malostranská – Malostranská – Malostranská – Pražský hrad – Pohořelec – Malovanka – Vypich – Bílá Hora.

From 28 January to 15 February, an alternative bus service X22 will be introduced on the route Újezd – Malostranské náměstí – Újezd – Švandovo divadlo.

Between February 16 and March 31, a replacement bus service X20 will run between Malostranské náměstí and Malostranská Square.
