As autumn settles in, the Czech Republic braces for a bout of turbulent weather. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has issued a warning for strong winds expected to sweep across the northeastern part of the country during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The Jeseníky Mountains are set to bear the brunt of this meteorological onslaught, with wind gusts predicted to reach speeds of up to 110 kilometres per hour. This fierce weather is not confined to the mountains alone; areas north of the Jeseníky range are also expected to experience powerful southerly to southwesterly winds, with gusts around 70 kilometers per hour from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.
The alert specifically targets parts of the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions, including the areas of Jeseník, Bruntál, Krnov, and Opava. Residents and visitors in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions as the warning will be in effect from 8 PM on Tuesday until 4 AM on Wednesday.
This sudden shift in weather patterns is attributed to a wavy cold front approaching from the west. As Tuesday evening progresses, this front is expected to influence weather conditions across Bohemia before advancing eastward on Wednesday. The eastern regions, in particular, are bracing for fresh winds as a result of this meteorological phenomenon.
While the immediate focus is on the impending strong winds, meteorologists also note that the pleasant temperatures the country has been enjoying are expected to persist until October 20th. After this date, a cooling trend is anticipated to set in, marking a definitive shift towards autumnal weather.
