New Motorway Between Příbram and Písek Gets 17.8 Billion CZK

Today builders will head over to complete the final work on the D4 motorway between Příbram and Písek. It is the first PPP motorway construction project in the Czech Republic. The state should pay 17.8 billion CZK in net present value for the use of the new motorway. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) and Minister for Transport Karel Havlíček (ANO) will attend the ground-breaking ceremony in Lety na Písecku. 

The D4 from Prague to South Bohemia has been under construction since the 1960s. A more extended section from Prague to Háje in the Příbram region and several kilometers of the motorway in Písek is still in operation. Thirty-two kilometers are yet to be built between Háje and Mirotice in Písek.

The new segment of the D4 will be constructed with Vinci and Meridiam by the DIVia consortium. The motorway will function and run for 24 years and four months, which the state will pay for. In March this year, preparation work started, especially concerning green cutting.

The municipalities along the D4 road agree to stop I/4 congestion in Strakonice and to reduce accidents. They also think it will be quicker to travel to Prague. They point out that it is also quite the Strakonice road is clear enough. The drivers routinely crash, all possibilities for tragic outcomes must be eliminated.
