According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, people aged 16 to 29 will be able to register for the Covid-19 vaccine from Friday, June 4th. In the age category between 30 and 50 years old, 168,000 people are now waiting for their first dose.
Originally, it was planned that all people over the age of 16 would be able to sign up for the vaccine as early as June 1st.
According to Health Minister Adam Vojtech, the reason for postponing vaccination of the younger group is that about half of the population that is being vaccinated are receiving their second doses.
“We are running out of second doses, of the 100 000 doses vaccinated per day, roughly 50 percent go to the second dose. For this reason, we have postponed the registration,” reported the Minister of Health.
For Saturday, health officials reported more than 41 000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered. According to official data from the Ministry of Health website, 5,181,141 doses have already been applied. Almost one and a half million Czechs have been fully vaccinated.
