Prague has obtained a final building permit for the Dvorecký Bridge, which will connect Zlíchov on the Smíchov side and Dvorce on the right bank of the Vltava. The bridge will be used mainly for public transport, including trams, pedestrians, cyclists, and integrated rescue system units.
“In three and a half years, we have secured a designer, a geological survey, and started to compete for a contractor,” commented Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport, on winning the building permit.
The bridge with cubist elements, the design of which was selected in an architectural competition, will lead from Zlíchov from the Lihovar bus stop to Žlutý lázně on the other bank and will terminate at Jeremenkova Street.
On the Smíchov side, a rail siding has already been built during the reconstruction of the line.
According to the tender approved last year, the construction should have cost CZK 972 million, but the price may be higher due to the current market situation. The tender for the contractor has been running since last autumn, and construction should start this year.
The capital intends to use the bridge, which should be ready in three years, also in the final stage of the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge. Its repair will begin in mid-May and is planned to take four years.
A space for leisure activities and a café should be created under the Dvorecký Bridge.
In addition to this bridge, the city restored the collapsed Troja footbridge during this term of office. A footbridge is currently being built to connect the island of Štvanice with Holešovice and Karlín.
