Prague’s New Airport Express Line Takes Shape in Holešovice

The ambitious rail project connecting Prague’s city center with Václav Havel Airport and Kladno is making significant progress, particularly in the Holešovice section.

Construction teams have achieved notable milestones in the development of a four-track station in Bubny and its connecting elevated railway. The project’s first phase is moving swiftly, with test operations scheduled to begin by mid-2025.

The next section of the track, which will run through Prague’s Stromovka park toward the airport, has already entered the zoning permit phase, and a project designer has been selected.

However, the project faces some challenges. The section between Dejvice and Veleslavín has sparked protests and is currently undergoing environmental impact assessment (EIA).

This modernization project represents a significant upgrade to Prague’s transport infrastructure, promising to provide a faster connection between the city center, the international airport, and the town of Kladno.
