The Czech Republic’s unemployment rate saw a modest increase in November, rising by 0.1 percentage point to 3.9%, returning to September levels. Despite this slight uptick, the Czech Republic maintains its position as the country with the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union, according to Labor and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurečka.
The Czech Labor Office reported 290,425 job seekers at the end of November, marking an increase of 1,422 compared to October. Currently, there are 255,641 job vacancies available across the country.
Regional disparities remain significant, with 53 districts experiencing increased unemployment rates. The most notable rises were observed in Jeseník (7.9%), Znojmo (6.3%), and Český Krumlov (6.2%). The highest unemployment rates, exceeding 8%, were recorded in Karviná and Most districts, while Prague’s surrounding areas maintained the lowest rates at around 1.5%.
Year-over-year figures show an increase of 28,231 unemployed individuals, representing a 0.4 percentage point rise. The current job market dynamics indicate approximately 1.1 job seekers per vacancy, with the average duration of unemployment standing at 495 days.
