The Czech Post expanded Parcel Centres by 2000

The Czech Post has expanded specialized parcel outlets, so-called Parcel Centres, from 2500 to 4500. The Postal Service said in a press release today.

In addition to their branches, the Parcel Offices will now be at Partner Post Offices. There will be more than 700 spots by the end of October. In total, the core network of the Czech Post will offer 3,200 parcel offices, including external partners. Customers will thus be able to use 5,200 Balíkovna venues across the Czech Republic.

“While the sending of letters is declining at a rate of ten percent per year, the parcel market is on the rise thanks to the popularity of e-shopping. Covid’s situation often made it impossible to acquire selected goods. The only way was to buy them online.

The extensive network of Parcel Centres is a way to offer our customers the broadest possible way to pick up their parcels, ” said Lenka Kristová, Director of Parcel Centres.

At the end of last year, 2,312 Balíkovna branches were available to customers. 370 Balíkovna spots operated at Post Office branches, another 53 at Czech Post depots, 544 were external, and 1,398 were outlets in the Sazka network. During the last year, Balíkovna handled three million parcels.

The competing Zásilkovna currently has over 5,600 outlets in the Czech Republic and delivered over 40 million parcels last year.
