The wind will be raging in the Czech Republic

Storms accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain will hit Germany and other European countries at the end of the week, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns. The winds are expected to pick up on Sunday and gradually intensify, with a hurricane expected to hit northern parts of Germany on Monday.

The wind will start to pick up on Wednesday in the Czech Republic and will blow strongest on Thursday, meteorologist Dagmar Honsová mentioned.

“In the Czech Republic, the wind will start to pick up on Wednesday. It will reach around 60 km/h in gusts, even in the lowlands. The strongest winds are expected during Thursday. This is when wind gusts will reach up to around 70 km/h even in lower altitudes,” Dagmar Honsová said.

The wind should ease slightly on Friday, but it will still blow a lot. “So far, the models expect gusts to be around 55 km/h at lower altitudes. It should remain windy at least until the end of the week,” Honsová added.

Despite the windy weather, however, temperatures should rise. For the Czech Republic, meteorologists expect temperatures in the range of 9 to 13 °C in the second half of the week.
