In a stunning blend of history and technology, students from the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague are set to illuminate the Bethlehem Chapel with a special video mapping project titled “Hussite Odyssey.” This unique event, scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, will pay tribute to the legendary Hussite leader Jan Žižka, marking 600 years since his passing.

Jan Žižka, the renowned Czech Hussite military leader, died on October 11, 1424. Six centuries later, his legacy will be brought to life through an innovative display created by students from the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU.

The brainchild of Zdeňka Čechová, this seven-minute video mapping spectacle will run on a loop, featuring interactive breaks where viewers can participate using their mobile phones. “The video mapping will run for just over seven minutes, looping with visualized breaks, during which viewers can directly engage using their mobile phones,” Čechová explained to PrahaIN.cz.

The Bethlehem Chapel, a national cultural monument in the heart of Prague, serves as the perfect canvas for this historical tribute. Owned by CTU, the chapel not only houses the university’s ceremonial hall but also stands as a symbol of the Czech Reformation movement, closely associated with Jan Hus and the Hussite period of Czech history.

This event showcases the innovative spirit of CTU students while honoring a pivotal figure in Czech history. It’s a must-see for history enthusiasts, tech aficionados, and anyone interested in experiencing a unique blend of past and present in the magical setting of Prague’s Old Town.
