Vaccinated people identified as having significant contact with an infected person will have to undergo a PCR test. However, they will not have to quarantine themselves before the result. This was decided on Monday by the chief hygienist, Pavla Svrčinová.

According to Health Minister Adam Vojtěch (ANO), the request for the PCR test will be issued to the vaccinated people in question by the regional health stations. It will be covered by public health insurance.

“If the test is negative, it is not necessary to take any further action,” the minister clarified. Until the result, however, people should monitor their health and wear a respirator. The change in the rules has been in effect since Monday. Until now, the obligation to get tested after contact did not apply to vaccinated people.

Testing vaccinated people who have come into contact with an infected person was also proposed last week by the incoming government of the coalition of SPOLU, the Pirates, and STAN.
