A heatwave is sweeping across Europe, with temperatures soaring well above 40 degrees Celsius in the southern regions. The Czech Republic will soon feel the effects of this significant warming, with temperatures expected to reach afternoon highs over 30 degrees Celsius next week.
Warmer air from the northwestern Sahara region is anticipated to enter the country. Meteorologist Dagmar Honsová revealed this, noting that the highest temperatures in the mentioned African region reach up to 50 degrees Celsius.
Currently, high temperatures are already prevalent in southern Europe. This Wednesday, Greece is expected to experience a peak temperature of 43 degrees Celsius, while Turkey anticipates temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, temperatures will rise to 28 degrees Celsius over the weekend in the Czech Republic. The warm air from the southwest will peak on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the temperatures are projected to be considerably milder than in southern Europe, with afternoon highs between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.
The passage of a cold front should temper the high temperatures toward the middle of next week. In response to the heatwave, Greek meteorologists have warned of very high temperatures. Authorities have implemented various measures across the country to mitigate the impact of the weather. According to the DPA agency, some schools have shortened or canceled classes. Employees with health issues should be able to work from home due to the heatwave.
