A freight train derailed in Mělník. Traffic on the line Ústí-Praha is at a standstill

Due to the derailment of two carriages of a freight train in Nelahozeves in the Mělník region, traffic on the busy railway line from Ústí nad Labem to Prague was interrupted. According to the Czech Railways website, trains are not running in the section between Kralupy nad Vltavou and Vraňany stations.

Martin Drápal, a spokesman for the Railway Inspectorate, said that no one was injured in the accident, but the material damage has not yet been determined.

The operation of long-distance and regional trains was stopped shortly after 5:00.

“The extent of the damage is being ascertained. The time of resumption of service will be updated according to the progress of the clearance work, ” the railways said. They say a minimal number of replacement bus services are in place between Vraňany and Kralupy.

According to the Railway Administration, two carriages of a freight train derailed at the entrance to Nelahozeves station. “The cause is under investigation,” the organization said on Twitter. A spokesman for the Railway Inspectorate added that the last two carriages of the freight train derailed during the journey.
