European Union is likely to start using the Covid Passports before the summer holidays begin. Representatives of the Member States and the European Parliament today, after several protracted negotiations, came to a compromise, which envisages introducing a free certificate in digital or paper form. Affordable Covid tests will be available to people for its acquisition. The EU countries would not be introduced for the certificate owners, for example, such as quarantines. It announced the main parliamentary negotiator Juan López Aguilar.

With the advancing vaccination against Covid-19, the EU is about to recover tourism, which was one of the most affected industries. At the request of mainly European states hoping for a summer return of tourists, the parameters of the joint travel certificate were negotiated. Vaccinated citizens or those that show a negative test result will be able to travel more straightforward routes across the borders.

European parliament should definitively approve passports at the plenary meeting in the first half of June. According to the commission, covid passports could be in operation from the beginning of July, when the new regulations will be active.
