Eat less meat to weaken the invader, advises the German minister

Lower meat consumption in Germany and conscious purchases could help fight against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cem Özdemir (Greens), Germany’s Economy Minister, told Der Spiegel weekly.

Putin’s perverse strategy, he said, is to look for weaknesses in others: He needs images of empty shelves to spread insecurity.

“Even though I am a vegetarian, I will not preach that everyone must convert to vegetarianism. But, to put it another way, eating less meat would contribute to Putin’s demise. Conscious shopping and less food waste would also benefit, ” the minister said.
