Tourists will have the opportunity to visit the most beautiful library in the world, the baroque library of Klementinum in Prague, from the beginning of this year’s tourist season, April 1st. The library is a unique space that some experts call the most beautiful in the world. However, visitors can also enjoy the Mirror Chapel and the Astronomical Tower. The National Library of the Czech Republic and the Prague City Tourism organization joined forces to prepare the route for the opening.
However, interested visitors must be prepared to climb about 170 stairs, some of which are stone, iron, and some wooden. Some stairs are spiral, and some are very steep. Nevertheless, the view and the tour are worth it.
This is already the ninth guided tour created in the city for Prague City Tourism. “Our task is to offer and show tourists the most interesting places in the metropolis and cultivate tourism in the city. That is also one of the reasons why we are opening this visitor route,” said František Cipro, Chairman of the Board of Prague City Tourism.
“Klementinum is separated from the most important tourist route in Prague – the Royal Route – only by a high wall. However, especially foreign visitors often cannot find this extensive area. The new lookout route offers exclusivity because people can see areas that cannot normally be accessed. At the same time, we also believe that we will be able to relieve the nearby Karlova Street, which is extremely crowded with tourists,” commented František Cipro.
The Mirror Chapel, which was already enchanting the father of Maria Theresa, Emperor Charles VI, is where the tour begins. The two organizations hope up to 50,000 people will visit Klementinum in the first year.
The tour is not for everyone, as visitors must be prepared for a strenuous climb up the stairs. However, the reward is well worth it for those who are up to the challenge. The beauty of the library, the intricate decorations, and the stunning view of Prague from the Astronomical Tower are sure to amaze visitors.
The National Library of the Czech Republic proudly showcases some of its most valuable collections. The library’s historical and musical funds offer visitors a glimpse into the country’s rich history, including rare manuscripts, maps, and books dating back centuries.
The baroque library of Klementinum in Prague, considered by some experts to be the most beautiful library in the world, is now open to visitors.
