From September 1st, the state will not cover preventive tests for coronavirus from public insurance. Health Minister Adam Vojtěch (ANO) said this after a cabinet meeting.
In his opinion, this is the right step. “Vaccinations are available to virtually anyone who chooses to have them,” he explained.
The change will not affect children under 12, people who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons or those who are in the middle of a vaccination cycle. So for them, the tests will continue to be free.
“For others, reimbursement will be waived. It’s a legitimate step, the primary option to return to normal life is vaccination. We must promote prevention, which is vaccination,” Vojtěch said.
He also asked people to get vaccinated. “This will help prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed and lockdowns, i.e. the closing of restaurants, for example,” he added.
