On Saturday, a passenger car collided with a truck and a van near Spomyšle in the Mělník region, killing one person. Three other people suffered injuries. The main road between Mělník and the D8 motorway is closed by the police and emergency services.
The accident was reported at around 08:30 on the I/16 road. Three vehicles, a car, a truck, and a van, collided there. According to initial information, the driver of the passenger vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” police spokeswoman Michaela Richterová said.
The ambulance service said on Twitter that one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Another injured person was transported by helicopter to the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital, and a third ended up with minor injuries at Motol hospital.
An ambulance quickly intervened at the scene. Police officers closed the road in both directions, and drivers are taking a different route. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
