People will be able to get the third dose of the covid vaccine from 20 September. At least eight months after their last dose should pass. The vaccination will continue next year, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch (ANO) said after the government meeting. The government had taken note of the conditions approved by the Government Council for Health Risks.
The vaccination is recommended for people at a higher risk of contracting the disease, i.e., over 60 years of age. However, Vojtěch said others would gradually be vaccinated as well.
“From 10 September, people will receive notifications, most often by SMS, that they can take advantage of this option. Either with their GP or by booking on the system at one of the vaccination sites, ” the minister said.
According to earlier information from the ministry, people should receive the third dose of the vaccine from general practitioners or in hospitals. Large vaccination centers outside health facilities will be phased out in September.
Health workers will administer booster doses of the mRNA-type vaccine, i.e., from manufacturers Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna. People vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s vaccine may receive it as a third dose, and those vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine as a second dose.
