Of the tourist destinations in the Czech Republic, the cable car to Petřín was the most attractive last year. More than a million people rode with it, 55 % less than before the coronavirus pandemic in 2019.
Prague Castle dominated the table of the most visited tourist destinations for years, last year it fell to fourth place. The zoo in Prague-Troja took second place last year; the third most frequent tourist destination was the Aquapalace Prague water park in Čestlice.
At most sites, visiting fell last year due to the pandemic. The restriction of travel hit Prague the hardest of all regions. Losses in the consumption of tourism reached about 82 billion crowns. While in 2019, the capital was represented seven times among the twenty most visited tourist destinations, last year, it managed to fight its way through only four places.
People visited the zoo a lot last year. After Prague, where about 851,000 visitors visited, most tourists were attracted by the Zlín Zoo, which took fifth place overall. Five hundred six thousand people visisted. Safari Park Dvůr Králové took seventh place, Ostrava Zoo finished eighth and Plzeň Zoo ninth. Olomouc Zoo, Liberec, and Brno Zoos were also among the 20 most visited tourist destinations.
