On Tuesday, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch, Education Minister Robert Plaga (both for ANO), and Chief Hygienist Pavla Svrčinová will present the anti-epidemic measures that will apply in schools from September at a joint press conference. The briefing is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will be live.
The government has previously approved that children will be tested for the coronavirus at the start of the school year on September 1, 6, and 9. They can also get tested at an official testing site and then provide proof of the test. Children in first grade will not be able to be tested until the second day of school.
Antigen testing is the primary test. However, schools can also use PCR tests, but they must provide them themselves.
Children who are not tested will have to wear respiratory protection. But they will not be excluded from the collective, Vojtěch said.
The minister said the conditions for testing would also apply to school employees. They will be required to wear masks in common areas of the school.
Those who have completed vaccinations or have had the covid-19 disease in the last 180 days will not have to take the test.
