Prague 5 is hosting a short series of free outdoor concerts at Villa Portheimka in Smíchov this summer. Presented as part of the United Prague 5 music festival, the shows will run four consecutive Thursday evenings from August 17 to September 7, 2023.
Eight performers from various genres will take the stage, starting at 5:30 PM each Thursday. The festival’s opening concert will feature Matěj Ruppert, known as the lead singer of the famous Czech band Monkey Business, followed by performances by Jay Delver and Martin Rufer Prague Trio.
Other featured performers include Nika, Lazer Viking, Hellwana, and Meizyy, with the final concert on September 7 featuring Michal Prokop of the band Framus 5.
The concerts will occur in the park in front of Villa Portheimka on Náměstí 14—Října, with free entry for all visitors. The event is being organized by Prague 5 in cooperation with the United Islands of Prague festival, which has been held annually since 2004 and typically takes place in May or June on Kampa Island and other locations throughout the city.
According to Jaroslav Pašmik, the mayor of Prague 5, the concerts are intended to provide an enjoyable evening experience for residents during the summer months. “I believe that this short series of concerts in Portheimka Park will make summer evenings more enjoyable for our citizens,” he said. “The choice of performers has been carefully selected, and the evening start time is convenient for all. The concerts will end by 8:30 PM so residents won’t be disturbed by excessive noise late into the evening.”
