  • In the Czech Republic, anyone can apply for a third dose of the vaccine after eight months have passed since complete vaccination.
  • On Monday, the European Medicines Agency authorized the application of third doses for people over the age of 18 after a six-month period.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will receive the third dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 on Friday morning, the day of the elections. He will be vaccinated at the Central Military Hospital in Prague, where he will receive Pfizer and BioNTech.

“The third dose can help a lot, especially for those people who generally have weakened immunity,” Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said. The government decided in late August that anyone can apply for a third dose of the vaccine after eight months have passed since the basic vaccination was completed.

The time between receiving a second and third COVID-19 vaccination should be reduced from the current eight months to six months, according to the Czech Vaccinology Society’s chairman, Roman Chlíbek. On Monday, the European Medicines Agency authorized third doses for people over 18 after six months had passed.
