Firefighters were dealing with a fire on a balcony in an 11-floor residential building in Prague’s Stodůlky district around noon on Friday. Thick smoke was billowing from the penultimate floor. Firefighters got the flames, which had hit one of the flats, under control within minutes. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The fire broke out in a residential building on Volutová Street in Stodůlky. “Four tankers and two ladders are on the scene. The flames partially entered the apartment, ” the firefighters reported on Twitter in the afternoon.

Their spokesman, Martin Kavka, reported just before 12:30 p.m. that they had managed to control the flames, and the house’s upper floors were being ventilated. “Some units are returning to base,” the spokesman clarified.

The cause and circumstances of the fire are still under investigation, and there has also been no word yet on estimates of the amount of damage. According to Kavka, the event was without injuries.
