An estimated more than 1 000 people filled Prague’s Wenceslas Square after 2 pm on Sunday for a demonstration against government measures called by the Chcípl PES initiative.

People brought banners with slogans such as “Traitor to the nation,” “Truth wins,” “Freedom or death,” “We have had enough,” to the demonstration called “Nine Steps to Freedom.”

From the podium, sentences about the government sowing fear in the people were shouted, along with slogans such as “Rise up!” and “Freedom.” Representatives of the integrated rescue system also took the stage.

In its own words, the initiative rejects “the use of discriminatory regulations and decrees to divide society and segregate people and demands their immediate cessation and abolition.”
