An employee of ČEZ was killed by electricity in a substation, causing a power outage in Chomutov for several hours on Tuesday, March 28th. The police are investigating the circumstances of the tragic event.
“The power outage occurred in connection with a fatal work accident in a substation in Chomutov. Criminal investigators are investigating the event, and an autopsy has been ordered,” said police spokesperson Miroslava Glogovská, adding that she cannot provide further information due to the ongoing investigation.
Soňa Holingerová, a spokesperson for the ČEZ Group that owns the substation, could not provide more specific information either.
“I can confirm that there was an electrical accident resulting in death. The Police of the Czech Republic are currently investigating this unfortunate event, so I cannot provide more information,” said the spokesperson.
As a result of the accident, electricity was out for several hours in the center of Chomutov and some other parts of the city and surrounding municipalities.
