The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has warned that icy conditions will threaten the country’s northwest on Wednesday afternoon. The warning is valid for the Karlovy Vary Region and parts of the Ústí nad Labem Region.
A cold northwesterly flow will start to influence the weather during the day. Ice will form as temperatures drop and precipitation falls. There should be snow in Bohemia at altitudes above 600 meters.
The warning will remain in effect until 5 pm.
Pedestrians and drivers should be wary of slippery roads, and the elderly, in particular, should consider staying outdoors. Due to the expected snowfall, road engineers have closed the road between Tanvald and Harrachov for freight traffic as a precautionary measure on Wednesday.
